Clearing Counter: Making a Kitchen Tidy in 20 Minutes

Since the kitchen is one of the most heavily trafficked rooms in the home, it can easily become one of the messiest rooms. Do not let the mess weigh you down. You can easily tidy up the room within minutes each day.

For some, it is hard to want to spend time in a space that is not appealing, tidy or not. You can easily spruce up the kitchen by switching out your old cabinet hardware. This quick fix is both affordable and chic. Also update your cabinet knobs for a balanced design.

The best way to begin getting into the habit of a cleaning routine in any room in your home is to have a designated spot for all of your cleaning supplies in your home. Select areas in your kitchen to have cleaning sponges, dish rags, dish detergent, broom, gloves, and other chemicals necessary to maintain a clean space. Once you know where all of these items are located, cleaning will be a cinch.

To control the climate in the space, install a new ceiling fan. The temperature in the kitchen may fluctuate when doing a lot of cooking. A fan will help make the space more comfortable, allowing you to want to spend more time in there. Ceiling fans also help to dry counter tops and floors faster after washing.

To tidy up your kitchen in minutes, focus on the basics. One of the largest culprits of messy kitchens is dirty dishes. Get in the habit of loading your dishwasher after each meal. The faster you clean up the dishes after cooking, the easier it is to remove dirt and food particles.

After loading the dish washer, take a soapy wash cloth and wipe down stains on all surfaces, including counter tops and kitchen appliances. These are main components in a kitchen space and can easily be an eye sore if not cleaned.

The next step to a quick kitchen clean is to sweep the floors. Get into the habit of giving the floors a quick sweep every night; this will prevent any dirt and build-up to form, which would make for more difficult clean-up later on.

Once the dishes are clean and the surface areas are washed up, take out the trash and recyclables. Taking out the trash daily will help to keep any undesirable kitchen odors to a minimum.

All that is left to do now is to put away any materials used to clean up the space. Once you have returned all of your cleaning supplies back to their proper locations, you may still have enough time and energy to make a batch of brownies before bedtime.
