Borax can be used for wallpaper, painted walls and floors to clean, deodorize, and disinfect.
White Vinegar can be used to remove some types of stain, cut grease into ceramics, remove mildew, odors and wax build-up. This is indeed a natural, and cheap yet effective substitute to at least 3 types of chemical based cleaner.
Cleansing soda slashes grease, gets rid of stains, and diminishes water, dirt free sinks, wall, tiles, and tubs. Use this with care, as washing soda can irritate mucous membranes. Be careful also not use this on aluminum, but for the items mentioned here, it is generally safe.
Isopropyl Alcohol works well as a disinfectant.
Cornstarch - can be used to clean windows, polish furniture, and to shampoo carpets and re-clean rugs.
Citrus Solvent - cleans paint brushes with stubborn hard paint, oil and grease, some types of stains.
Trisodium phosphate (TSP) - a mixture of soda ash and a substance called phosphoric acid. TSP is toxic if swallowed, but it can be used on many household cleaning jobs, such as cleaning drains or removing old paint. For these purpose, it is suggested you use natural cleaners as using chemical substances in cleaning them may even pose a fire hazard.
Moth-repelling products can now be homemade using the combination of plants and petals such as rosemary, rose petals, and lavender and vetiver.
As a natural moth deterrent, dried lemon peels works well. You can simply put it in your closet and stop moths from damaging your clothes.
It leaves a natural scent too that is a lot better for closed areas such as closets.
Oil and Grease stains: combine baking soda and by using a wet brush you can scrub-off small spills on your floor.
Air fresheners from stores utilize by covering odors and varnishing the nasal passages with chemicals which lessen the sense of smell by sedating the nerves. Use house plants instead for that natural home scent that remains pleasant all day long.
Cleaners need not always be bought from your local grocery. In fact, these solutions and natural cleaning products has been around for a long time already but due to marketing ploys of companies selling toxic chemical based cleaners, this has taken a backseat.
